Rick’s Custom Rods (RCR) has been a Madeira Beach fixture for more than 25 years. It originated with Rick, a local native with deep roots, who with his passion for fishing, developed the skill and expertise for custom rod building and repairs.
Rick, with his partner Michele by his side, quickly became the “go to” for every level angler for all their fishing needs and became known for the BEST bait in town! Rick was always at the shop waiting to tell a story or give advice to anyone who asked; he loved sharing his knowledge of saltwater fishing whether a tourist passing through town or a local fisherman.
Sadly, in September of 2021 Rick was diagnosed with cancer and in April of 2022, he passed away. Michele worked tirelessly to uphold the business and continue its outstanding reputation of providing top notch customer service before deciding she was ready to sell.
In December of 2022, the Perry Family (Mike, Stacey, Dominic and Anastacia), a local Madeira Beach family who were loyal RCR customers for over ten years, became the proud new owners.
Mike with his son Dominic (the fishaholic in the family), met Rick and Michele when they began their first saltwater fishing endeavors in Florida. Growing up, Dominic rode his bike to Rick’s almost every day for bait and tackle, and of course to get as many pointers as possible. They taught Dominic so much about fishing and were proud when he finally won first place in the King of the Beach Fishing Tournament, youth division, in 2019!
The Perrys are honored and proud to carry out Rick’s legacy in Madeira Beach and very excited for the future of RCR! We are the only full-service saltwater bait and tackle shop in Madeira Beach and offer quality products at reasonable prices. We carry a variety of rods and reels to fit everyone’s budget.

As of March 1, 2023 Rick’s Custom Rods will be located in our new home at 14995 Gulf Blvd., Unit C, Madeira Beach, FL 33708. This is the Madeira Commons Plaza, between 7-Eleven and Daiquiri Shack.
Our Store hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday 7:00am – 5:00pm, Thursday and Friday we are open 7:00am – 7:00pm. We are closed Mondays.
